DOCTORS REMOVE BLADE ‘FORGOTTEN’ INSIDE WOMAN'S WOMB 11 YEARS AGO

Felistah Nafula and the 11-year-old surgical blade that Maragua Level Four hospital doctors removed from her womb on February 2, 2023.

Ms. Felistah Nafula, 36, sought medical attention after suffering from abdomen aches she thought were ulcers for 11 years. Weeks after she gave birth to her first kid via Caesarean section in a Kitale hospital, the issue arose.

But as the years passed and she was about to start her twelfth year with her issue, doctors began to worry that her issue was more serious than just ulcers.

She was scheduled for the theater at Maragua Level Four hospital in Murang'a County after a number of tests revealed she was harboring something metallic in her tummy.

On February 2, after a two-hour procedure, the physicians showed her what they had discovered: an old surgical blade.

The surgical team was led by Dr. Kairo Kimende, the hospital's medical director, who told Nation. Africa that the blade was discovered in the abdomen wedged between the uterus and the small intestines.

According to Dr. Kimende, the blade was positioned in Ms. Nafula's belly in such a way that "it made Ms. Nafula lose the ability to conceive during the time she hosted it there."

According to Ms. Nafula, the knife almost caused the end of her marriage because her husband could not understand why ten years She struggled to defend herself since she was all too aware that she was not being malicious.

Dr. Kairu Kimondo who led the two-hour surgery to remove an 11-year-old surgical blade from Felistah Nafula's womb on February 2, 2023, at Maragua Level Four Hospital.

Husband's patience

Samuel Mungai, her husband, claimed he had been tolerant throughout because he loved her. I even assisted in getting her medical attention. Not for a baby, but for the issue that occasionally caused her abdomen to swell and cause her to faint.

I was aware of her issues, but I never connected them to her infertility, he added.

Mr. Stephen Mungai accompanied his wife Felistah Nafula to have a surgical blade that had been inside her womb for 11 years removed.

"After learning that my wife was the issue, I became more interested. My buddies who are doctors suggested that I have my wife get her fertility checked out," the man added.

She had an odd metallic body in the abdomen, according to X-rays taken at a hospital in Thika.
The fact that his wife is now rid of the problematic blade makes Mr. Mungai delighted. Pregnancy is not a top priority, but if it occurs, I will give God the glory.
