What is Super Gonorrhea
“super gonorrhea,” refers to strains of gonorrhea that have “high-level resistance” to current antibiotic treatments. Officials with WHO says these resistant strains can develop and spread thanks to genetic mutations in the bacteria.
Jan 18 – The new strain of Super Gonorrhea detected by the researchers from the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) was based on slightly old data. This is according to acting Health Director General Dr. Patrick Amoth who mentioned that the study was conducted on commercial sex workers.
During an interview on Citizen TV, Amoth revealed that KEMRI was undertaking deep analysis to establish the spread of the gonorrhea strain which is resistant to antibiotics.“KEMRI is doing a deep dive to be able to inform us further on the spread.
And the span of this particular strain of gonorrhea once we have that information. We will be able to put in place the appropriate interventions to forestall it,” he stated. The KEMRI study stated that the new strain of the sexually transmitted disease is resistant to standard antibiotics and is circulating in Nairobi.
Amoth explained that the study was conducted among commercial sex workers. In the study, one out of a sample of 400 individuals had the ‘Super Gonorrhea’ strain which was resistant to all the antibiotics it was tested on.
Gonorrhea, or through the overuse of antibiotics (or poor quality of antibiotics used in the treatment), among other factors. “Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in gonorrhea actually appeared shortly after the introduction of antimicrobials.
At the beginning of the 20th century,” Dr. Teodora Wi, WHO Medical Officer, said in 2018, amid reports of a strain of “super” gonorrhea detected in the U.K. “Resistance has continued to expand since then.”Both WHO and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
And Prevention (CDC) further noted that gonorrhea, in general, has become better at evading treatments over the years.
How to get rid of super Gonorrhea? Antibiotic-resistant gonorrhea is treated with antibiotics that do not show resistance, longer courses of antibiotics, or a combination of antibiotic drugs. Serious cases of super-resistant gonorrhea are treated in a hospital with IV antibiotics.
Symptoms of super Gonorrhea are; Pain during urination, Pelvic or abdominal pain, Rectal itching, bleeding, or discharge, Pain during bowel movements, Eye pain and discharge, Sore throat, Swollen glands in the neck, and Stiff and painful joints.
prevention of Super Gonorrhea
- Use of condoms.
- Regular testing.
- Being faithful to your partner.
Why does Gonorrhea keep on recurring? Certain strains of gonorrhea bacteria have become resistant to some medicines. When bacteria become resistant to an antibiotic, they no longer can be killed by that medicine. If you've been treated for gonorrhea and don't get better, you may be retested to see if there is resistance to the antibiotic you took.
Medicines to treat Gonorrhea
- ceftriaxone — given as an injection — with oral azithromycin (Zithromax).
Foods that help you in fighting Gonorrhea are; Honey. Honey is a natural product that has been widely used for its therapeutic effects, Ginger. Ginger has exhibited the ability to inhibit growth and even kill oral pathogens, Garlic, Apple Cider Vinegar, and Aloe Vera.
In the last stage of Gonorrhea, if left untreated, gonorrhea can also spread to the blood and cause disseminated gonococcal infection (DGI). DGI is usually characterized by arthritis, tenosynovitis, and/or dermatitis 15. This condition can be life-threatening.
It takes 7 days for the medicine to work in your body and cure gonorrhea. If you have sex without a condom during the 7 days after taking the medicine. You could still pass the infection to your sex partners, even if you have no symptoms.
Natural antibiotics that kill Gonorrhea are; Garlic. Cultures across the world have long recognized garlic for its preventive and curative powers, Honey. Since the time of Aristotle, honey has been used as an ointment that helps wounds to heal and prevents or draws out infection, Ginger, Echinacea, Goldenseal, Clove, and Oregano.
