A gastric balloon or intragastric balloon or stomach balloon is an inflatable medical device that is temporarily placed into the stomach to help reduce weight.  The intragastric balloon is designed to help provide weight loss when diet and exercise have failed and surgery is not wanted or not recommended for the patient.

You can still drink clear liquids such as strained clear broth, herbal teas, coconut water, etc. Stop all clear liquids 2 hours prior to placement.
