Human rights attorney Willie Kimani and two other people were killed in 2016, and the High Court has convicted former police officer Sergeant Fredrick Ole Leliman to death for their murders. Leliman, according to Justice Jesie Lessit, was the brains behind the "complex murder."
She continued by saying that the murder was particularly heinous due to its careful preparation and execution.
Stephen Cheburet and Sylvia Wanjiku, two police officers, received sentences of 30 and 24 years in prison, respectively. Peter Ngugi, a police informant, received a 20-year sentence.
