CAUSES OF INFERTILITY IN WOMAN

 


What is infertility? it simply means not being able to get pregnant after at least one year of trying (or 6 months if the woman is over age 35).

Not getting pregnant is the main symptom of infertility. There may be no other obvious symptoms. Sometimes, women with infertility may have irregular or absent menstrual periods.

Types of infertility in women

  • Primary. Primary infertility is when a pregnancy has never been achieved by a person.
  • Secondary. secondary infertility is when at least one prior pregnancy has been achieved.

Causes of infertility Include, Age. Women's fertility gradually declines with age, especially in the mid-30s, and it drops rapidly after age 37, Tobacco use. Smoking tobacco or marijuana by either partner may reduce the likelihood of pregnancy, Alcohol use, Being overweight, underweight, and Exercise issues.

The condition that can lead to infertility in women

  1. polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) thyroid problems – both an overactive thyroid gland and an underactive thyroid gland can prevent ovulation.
  2.  premature ovarian failure – where the ovaries stop working before the age of 40.

Primary causes of infertility in women

  • Endometriosis.
  • Uterine fibroids.

Tests to show whether a woman is fertile
You will be given a pelvic exam by your doctor. The doctor may also use an ultrasound to look at your ovaries and uterus, and give you a blood test to check your hormones. However, Sometimes you'll need to start tracking your ovulation patterns. By checking your cervical mucus, taking your temperature, or using home ovulation tests.

factors that increase chances of being fertile are, Maintaining a healthy weight. Second, Being overweight or significantly underweight can inhibit normal ovulation. Third, Prevent sexually transmitted infections. Infections such as chlamydia and gonorrhea are a leading cause of infertility for women. Fourth, Avoid the night shift, if possible.

Signs of infertility in women include; Pain during sex, Heavy, long, or painful periods, Dark or pale menstrual blood, Irregular menstrual cycle, Hormone changes, Underlying medical conditions, Obesity,  and Not getting pregnant.

 What causes woman not to produce eggs

 Ovulation Problems are many reasons why a woman may not ovulate (release an egg) regularly. Hormonal imbalances, past eating disorders, substance abuse, thyroid conditions, severe stress, and pituitary tumors are all examples of things that can affect ovulation.

  • Bacterial infections are one of the most common causes of infertility in both men and women. 
  • Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like chlamydia and gonorrhea can damage the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes in women, and the tubes that sperm travel through in men
How can you check your fertility at home?

You have to buy FSH tests, it's very similar to pregnancy tests administered at home.  Use a small cup to collect urine from the first urination of the day for easy testing. Then dip the testing stick into the urine sample and place it on a flat surface while the test results register.

Medicines to avoid while trying to conceive
  1. Meloxicam, diclofenac, or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs).
  2. Anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs).
  3. Antipsychotics (neuroleptic medicines).
  4. Thyroid medication.
  5. Spironolactone, is a diuretic used to treat swelling (oedema).
Drugs that affect female fertility

Taking cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, cannabis and other recreational drugs can reduce the chance of having a baby for both women and men.  Recreational drugs can cause permanent problems with the reproductive system and infertility taken over a long period of time.

Best tablets to use while trying to get pregnant

 If you are trying to get pregnant, you should take folic acid tablets (400 micrograms) every day. The tablets help you to get pregnant faster. Studies suggest that folic acid may also increase fertility. Women who take multivitamins with folic acid are more likely to ovulate (produce eggs).

Previous studies found that women trying to conceive had somewhat higher pregnancy rates when taking folic acid supplements.

Eggs are at the top of the list of foods to eat when trying to get pregnant. They are packed with protein, Vitamins B12 (aka Folic Acid), E, Zinc, and fat. Protein and vitamin E have been shown to support the motility of sperm.
